Glenrowan Solar Farm Scholarship Now Open for 2026

$5,000 to support the next generation of local tradespeople

The Glenrowan Solar Farm Scholarship is back for 2026, offering $5,000 to support a local young person as they begin or continue their apprenticeship or traineeship journey.

The scholarship is designed to support young people aged 15–24 who live, work or have strong connections to the Wangaratta region, helping them overcome barriers to employment and build the skills, confidence and experience needed to succeed in the local workforce.

With a particular focus on trades, electrical and renewable energy, the scholarship aims to help build the region’s future workforce while supporting greater participation in the local labour market.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is aimed at young people who:

• Are aged 15–24 years and are entering or already working in a trade within the Wangaratta Local Government Area.

• Have attended secondary school within the Wangaratta LGA.

• Are disadvantaged or identify as First Nations.

• Have accepted a trade apprenticeship within six months of nomination, or will commence a trade apprenticeship within four months of being nominated.

• Will have their place of work located within the Wangaratta LGA.

The scholarship can help reduce some of the financial barriers young people face when entering a trade, while providing valuable support at an important stage of their career journey.

Supporting local talent and future skills

The Glenrowan Solar Farm Scholarship is part of a broader commitment to strengthening the local workforce and creating opportunities for young people to build sustainable careers close to home.

By supporting apprentices and trainees, the program also contributes to developing the skills and capability needed across the region — including in the growing renewable energy and electrical sectors.

Schools, employers and industry partners are encouraged to identify and nominate outstanding young people who are ready to take the next step in their career.
